Melbourne Cricket Ground

The Melbourne Cricket Ground or MCG is the most iconic stadium in Australia. Completed in 1854, the stadium has a rich history and has hosted its fair share of games, from cricket to Australian football; it has been used for several sports. The ground has a capacity of over 100,000 spectators and is the second-largest cricket stadium in the world. The MCG has hosted many famous events; it hosted the 1992 Cricket World Cup Final, the 1956 Olympic Games, and the 2006 Commonwealth Games. Moreover, the ground is also set to host the 2022 T20 World Cup final.

Flemington Racecourse

Located in Melbourne, Flemington Racecourse is another iconic stadium in Australia. It is home to the Melbourne Cup, which has been going on since 1861. The stadium was itself opened in 1840 and has a rich history. It is one of the biggest sporting venues across the globe, with a capacity of 120,000+ spectators. The stadium is famous for its beautiful lawns and roses. The Flemington Racecourse has three grandstands, namely the Lawn Stand, Members Stand, and the new Club Stand. It also has several restaurants and cafes inside it, making it one of the most impressive stadiums in Australia.

Accor Stadium

Accor Stadium, erstwhile Stadium Australia, is located in Sydney. It was built for and hosted the 2000 Sydney Olympics. The stadium is a rectangular sporting venue used nowadays for both sports and entertainment purposes, with huge concerts being held inside it. It is a state-of-the-art stadium designed to prevent claustrophobia and help the spectators breathe properly, without facing any problems. Moreover, the Accor Stadium also consists of features that make it environmentally friendly. With a capacity of 80,000+, it is one of the biggest stadiums in Australia.

Perth Stadium

Perth Stadium, also known as Optus Stadium, is located in Western Australia; it is a modern stadium with features you do not see in other sporting venues. Completed in 2018, the stadium hosts everything, from cricket to AFL to Rugby to football. The stadium was constructed keeping a ‘fans first’ approach in mind, and it offers a spectator experience you will not find in other stadiums. With a capacity of over 60,000 spectators, the stadium is another one of Australia’s impressive stadiums.

Adelaide Oval

The Adelaide Oval is the largest sporting ground in Southern Australia and can host more than 50,000 spectators. Opened in 1871, the stadium is one of Australia’s oldest and has seen its share of iconic sporting moments and matches. Now primarily used for AFL and cricket matches, the stadium was also used to host football and rugby games in the past. The stadium is regarded by many as one of the most beautiful test cricket venues in the world. 

Marvel Stadium

Marvel Stadium, originally named Docklands Stadium, is a stadium in Melbourne. It was named after Marvel in 2018, following an eight-year naming rights agreement. It is another multipurpose stadium that hosts everything from cricket to AFL to concerts. The stadium features a retractable roof that can open and close within 20 minutes. Completed in 2000, the stadium has a capacity of over 50,000 and is a modern stadium located in Australia.
